Okra rasam | Bendakaya pulusu | Bhendi cooked tamarind sauce with spices | Easy Veg Gravy recipes For Rice and Rotis




Okra rasam or bendakaya pulusu is one of my mother singnature recipe which she makes often..It is a very simple recipe and easy to cook in minutes..senyum It`s my family favorite recipe in school days..Try it for a change,definitely you`ll like it..


Ingredients

okras-15 medium size
tomato-1 small (optional)
onion-1 big
red chilli powder-2 tsp (to taste)
salt-to taste
tamarind pulp-small lemon size
coriander powder-1 tsp
turmeric powder-1/2 tsp

TO TEMPER

oil-2 tbsps
mustard seeds -1 tsp
cumin seeds -1 tsp
curry leaves-1 sprig
ginger garlic paste(GGP)-1 tsp
hing/inguva -2-3 pinches
red chilli-3


Preparation

1.Wash okra finely and dry them using a fresh kitchen towel...Chop into 1 inch size pieces.Watch onion finely..Soak tamarind in sufficient water and squeeze out the juice...

2.heat a vessel or non stick pan with oil add ingredients which given under oil and saute well ..Fry onion also  for 1 minute and add chopped okra and mix it well.

3.After 2 minutes add chili powder,turmeric powder and salt.(you can add tomatoes here if you use)After 5 minutes add tamarind juice (around 1 cup).let it boil for 10 minutes in low flame.

4. Add coriander powder. boil it for 2-3 more minutes and turn off the flame.

5.serve hot with rice or roti...

Ragi Payasam | Healthy Finger Millet Kheer With Jaggery | Sankranthi Recipes | South Indian Popular Festival Recipes | Easy Healthy Payasam Recipes


CATEGORY- HEALTHY LOW CALORIE SWEETS/DESSERTS/PANDAGA VANTALU
PREPARATION TIME- 10 MINUTES
COOKING TIME- 20 MINUTES


WHAT YOU NEED

ghee/clarified butter -2 tbsp
cashews,almonds - 5+5
raisins,chironji nuts -5+1 tbsp
cardamom powder-1 tsp
milk-1 cup (if you like add 1/2 cup more,but adjust jaggery)
water-3/4 cup
ragi flour/finger millet flour- 1/2 cup
jaggery/bellam- 3/4 cup


HOW TO COOK

In a non stick pan heat ghee/clarified butter and fry chopped cashews,almonds,raisins,chironji nuts in low flame and keep them aside.

Now in a vessel heat water.While water boiling add ragi flour slowly and cook for 5 minutes in medium flame..Now add in milk and stir for 5 minutes in low flame again.

Now add jaggery and cook in low flame until turns thick...Turn off and add fried nuts...

Serve warm or cold...



MAHAS NOTES

You can add coconut milk for a change..

Along with nuts fry coconut pieces.

Add jaggery 1 cup for more sweetness if you like.

Careful while adding flour..Otherwise,it forms lumps..

It`s friday.Time for guest post..A first guest post in new year..Actually,it was the post to share in december.. But,unexpected internet problem changed all my plannings and preparations..Still,Iam feeling quite good to introduce this person who is very close to me..She is non other than SUJITHA RUBAN.. Sujitha is one of the silent,dedicative food blogger who is very active,friendly and co operative.She was one of the person who pinged me daily in fb,when I went through surgery..She was the person who clarified my simple/silly doubts regarding to blogging with lots of patience,when i asked....It shows her true friend ship,helping nature actually.. .I met her through fb,and later we became very close..She is a mom of 3 years old kid who keeps her busy always..Still,she finds time to spend with blog and I really love her neat presentation..She shares each recipe with step wise pictures and I like the way she explains the method of the recipe very clearly...She posts all kinds of recipes,specially I love her baking recipes and sweets..Though the pictures are simple, presentation is so good and attractive..Apart all of these food blog name which she choosed is very easy to catch to all,specially who loves cooking..Yeah..She blogs at SujithaEasycooking.com The name itself shows how much she loves cooking.One more thing I should share here that ,recently she started sharing pressure cook method cakes..Though,I have posted more than 50 cakes recipes never even thinked about pressure cooker method..But,after checking her recipes I got confidence to give a trial..Those recipes are very helpful for people who don`t have oven at home.
This is a special post in baking category also popular too..Lamington cakes recipe method sounds bit long and lengthy but finally the result is awesome..I thank you sujitha for sharing such a wonderful recipe with step wise pictures and excuse me for doing it too late dear..Hope you don`t mind dear suji..:)

1. Abt you few words which we don't know
First of all i thank Usha(Maha) for this opportunity, This sujitha Ruban Writer of sujithaeasycooking, i enjoy experiment with recipes and food.. nowadays i love to make good friends here in blogging.. Mostly I’m a silent writer in blogging..
2. 3 photography tips & kitchen tips Photography Tips:
• Take photos in good natural light(Sun Light) • Make out a plain background with a plain cloth or mat, so that ur dish will have good look.. • Edit your photos using a good software, when adding text with photo choose a contrast combination.. if the background is light blue or pink or white, choose the text color as maroon or Dark blue..
Kitchen Tips:
• Grate the coconuts and store them in freezer, when you want to prepare coconut milk with the frozen coconuts, soak them in warm for 5 mins and grind in a mixer squeeze out the coconut milk.. • I usually Peel Pearl onion, garlic and store it in a airtight container and refrigerate them, in the same way i remove the head cap of the green chili and store them in a air tight containers this make the green chili to be fresh for more than 10 days.. • For cleaning kitchen i use warm water, so that the strains and oily dirt comes out easily, for whipping the kitchen counter i use some soft cotton cloths which are old and unused, so that washing the cloths are easy..
3.How to develop blog n blog page to get more fans n views
Write a good reaching content, maintain a good relationship with other bloggers, improve your network.. this is not the matter, how many bloggers/friends you know, how many bloggers/Friends know you is the important thing, feel free to talk, be ready to help.. 4 How blog changed ur life& how many posts ur doing in a month
Blogging, this is fancy word when i started writing here.. once i involved seriously i breath this blogging in my life.. before blogging i convince my self, okay next time, will prepare better.. after blogging i found some perfection in my life.. Post depends to my mood if i have no travel, I’m okay with the regular schedule i post 12-20 posts per month.. otherwise it goes down below 12..
5. Finally ,few words abt MLH ..
MLH is a lovely space, which i got to hooked her page by fb, Usha is a very good friend of mine.. i love all her recipes, she had lot of Baking, low calorie, diet soup recipes, and she is special in making rice bowl which makes other hungry through her nostalgic presentation.. I’m a regular silent viewer of MLH,
Pink Lamington Cake:
This pink lamington Cake is a delicious one in bake, Lamingtons are of australians preparation.. don't why the name meant to be lamington, usually these delicious squares are dipped with chocolaty icing and rolled out in coconut powder, when Usha asked me for a guest post, suddenly this lamington came to my mind.. This Delicious cake has a wonderful taste.. those who have sweet tooth and biiiiig sweet tooth will vanish the plate with in a hour, here happened the same though my husband doesn't had a sweet tooth.. Here you go with the Simple and easy delicious cake.. Thank you Usha for this Opportunity..
Ingredients:
For the Cake: APF/Maida- 1 cup Butter- 1/2 cup Egg- 2 nos Sugar- 1/2 cup Vanilla Essence- a dash Baking Soda- 1/4 tsp Baking Powder- 1/2 tsp
For Pink Icing: Butter- 1/4 cup Icing sugar- 1/2 cup Pink Food color- 2-3 drops Desiccated coconut- 1/2 cup




Method:
Take the butter and Egg in a mixing bowl beat them till the eggs get foamy texture..
Add in the Vanilla Essence, & sugar, again beat this mix till the sugar dissloves..
Preheat heat the oven to 180 C for 10 mins, Grease a baking tin with butter.Oil and line it with a parchment/butter paper..
Sieve the Flour, Baking soda, Baking Powder to the Mixing bowl, Fold the batter slowly.. dont beat or mix them.. 
gently fold the batter and fill the greased pan, now through this in the preheated oven and bake it for 20-25 mins, or till they done..
All you need here is a pink food color..
Take the butter in a mixing bowl melt them if its not in room temperature, add in the icing sugar and mix them well, Take the pink food color and add 2 drops of pink food color to the bowl, mix them well.. In the mean time the cake was cooled and cut them in to squares..
Now drop the Cake pieces to the bowl and roll the icing over the cake..
Take the desiccated coconut/coconut powder in a small bowl , roll the iced cake to the coconut powder.. and set aside.. refrigerate it for 2 hours and serve this yum yum cake..
Note:
Make sure all the ingredients are in room temperature..
If you have any leftover or store bought cake, just prepare the icing and enjoy the taste..
