RICE FLAKES MOONG DAL SWEET PONGAL/POHA SWEET PONGAL/ATUKULA PESARA PAPPU TEEPI PONGALI/FESTIVAL RECIPES
Once In a week I do puja like cleaning Idols, lamp sets etc....On that day I also offers nivedyam/food for god.Nowadays my two kids are robbing my time and even they are not giving at least few minutes to do puja or to make some sweet..VERMICELLI PAYASAM is my signature recipe which I makes often for puja.(Actually it took very few mins to make)..But now For a change I thought to make some different recipe which can prepare in less time...
RICE FLAKES/POHA.One of the common Food ING which can see in every home..Poha is healthy and at the same any recipe with poha saves our time..I watched out so many different kind of POHA UPMA recipes in co-blogs.For a change I planned to make some sweet pongal with POHA. So,finally the result is this...When you are in urgent or consumed to eat some thing delicious then try this once..It may take 15 mins of your time and the result will be the awesome...
I fell in love with this sweet pongal and decided to prepare on festival times in future.Hope you will love this too....
CATEGORY-FESTIVAL RECIPES/RICE FLAKES RECIPES/PONGAL
PREPARATION TIME-15 MINS
COOKING TIME-15-20 MNS
WHAT YOU NEED
Rice flakes/atukulu/poha- 1 1/2 cup
jaggery/bellam powdered -3/4 cup
moong dal/pesara pappu-1/2 cup
ghee- 2 tsps+3 tsps
cardamom powder-1/2 tsp
cashews, & almonds sliced- 4+4
raisins-5
milk-1 cup(If need use 1/2 more cup)

Wash and soak dal for 15 mns. Then pressure cook for 3 whistles or 10 mins in med flame..After releasing air mash it..
Wash POHA and soak in water for 5 mins and drain into bowl..
Heat 2 tsps ghee in pan. roast sliced dry fruits and keep aside..
In the same pan add jaggery with 1 cup of milk and let it boil...
When its boiling in peak stage keep flame low and add mashed dal n mix well.
After 2mins add drained POHA and stir well...Cook this for 3-5 mins in low flame by stirring every second..
Add coconut pieces, cardamom powder and roasted dry fruits and mix well....
Finally add ghee and after a minutes off flame....Tastes best when served hot..
MAHAS NOTES
1.If the pongal looks too thick while cooking add some more milk ..
2.Depending on the POHA variety add jaggery and dal...
3.If you are sweet tooth add 1 cup of jaggery..
4.Replace jaggery with sugar..
5.coconut pieces gives crunchy taste..It`s really good to use..
6.before going to off flame adding ghee gives more flavour and taste to pongal..
7.I used thin variety poha..stirring is Important after adding poha n keep flame in low.other wise its sticks to pan..
