1.Tomatoes-3 big
2.onion-1 small

For Tadka
mustard seeds-1 tea spoon
cumin seeds-1/2 tea spoon
curry leaves-few
green chillies-4-5
hing/asafoetida-1/4 tea spoon
1.Take a pan,heat for a minute.. add cumin seeds,pepper corns,coriander seeds and fry for a minute.Then grind into fine powder..
2.Take a vessel,add chopped tomatoes,add water as required for soup consistency and bring it to boil for 15 minutes so that tomatoes get mashed well.let it cool,and squeeze out the rasam.
3. Take a pan,turn on heat.Add oil,add mustard seeds,green chillies,ginger, garlic,turmeric powder,red chillies,curry leaves,chopped onions and cook for a minute..
4.Add squeezed rasam,tamarind juice with a strainer and add salt,sugar,bring it to boil.Then add ground masala powder,coriander leaves and after a minute turn off gas.Serve hot with rice.
