WHAT YOU NEED
Ingredients:1/4 kg chamadumpalu/taro root/arbi1 onion, finely chopped1 tomato, finely chopped2-3 green chillis, slit lengthwise1 tsp red chilli pwd (adjust according to your taste)1 tsp coriander powder1/4 tsp turmeric powder1 tsp grated jaggery or sugarsmall lemon sized tamarind pulpsesame seeds-1 tbspsalt to tastecoriander leaves for garnish (optional)1 1/2 tbsps oilFor poppu/tempering/tadka:1/2 tsp mustard seeds1 tsp cumin seeds1 red chilifew curry leaves

Wash the arbi in sufficient water,peel skin,cube into same size pieces and boil in water for 10
minutes in medium flame,drain in a bowl. Soak tamarind in water for 15 minutes, squeeze
out juice and keep aside.
Dry roast sesame seeds in a pan and grind into coarse powder or use mortar and pestle.Heat
oil in a vessel and when oil is hot, add cumin seeds,mustard seeds,curry leaves,green chilis
and add chopped onion,fry til turns into brownish color.
add colocasia/arbi pieces,tomato pieces, chilli powder, salt and mix well.cook for 5 minutes in
low flame and add tamarind juice and enough water. add sugar at this time if you like.
(I skipped) Let it boil for 10 minutes in low flame.
Throw in rasam powder,dhaniya powder,sesame powder and hing,stir well.Cover with lid
and cook until the gravy looks thick.Already, we are using boiled taro root pieces,so just
5 mins is enough. Serve hot with rice and any vegetable fry.
